Strategies
Strategies act as a structured, auditable toolkit that enables your team to propose, trial and evaluate personalised behavioural strategies across care settings. Designed to replace informal whiteboard systems, Strategies enables your team to build a personalised, evidence-based record of what works, and what doesn’t for each patient.
Creating a Strategy
Navigate to the patient’s profile.
Go to the 'Strategies’ tab.
Select the option to add a new strategy, then complete:
Title - a name for the strategy.
Timing - when staff should use it.
Status - whether the strategy is being trialled or reviewed.
Description - clear instructions for staff and aim.
Make sure to add enough detail for other team members to understand what to do and when.
*Users can suggest a title and timing but admins must review the suggestion before it is used.
Timing
Choose when a strategy should be used.
Proactive - for everyday care.
Early warning - when early signs of escalation appear.
Reactive - a de-escalation attempt.
Selecting the correct timing helps staff to identify when an approach is most likely to be effective.
Start a trial
Set the status to “trialling” when the strategy is ready to test.
Melo generate a timestamp for when the trial begins. There is no fixed length, although teams often review strategies after 1-2 weeks.
Only admins can start a trial. Once a trial is started, the strategy is visible to all users.
Feedback
During the trial period, team members can vote for:
What worked (thumbs up).
Didn’t work (thumbs down).
Or both - for mixed results.
These votes allow your team to develop and evidence an informed record which admins can review before marking as effective or ineffective.
Tracking Outcomes
Your team can review the votes during formulation or MDT meeting.
An admin can then mark the strategy as:
Effective.
Ineffective.
This creates a clear record of what was tried and what the team decided.
Admins can also edit or delete a strategy, reject a suggestion or record an outcome without starting a trial.
